The Blues’ Claim their first Premier League Victory since August
Chelsea end goal drought after defeating Fulham 2-0 thanks to goals by Armando Broja and Mykhailo Mudryk on Monday evening.
Mykhailo Mudryk scored his first goal for the Blues since signing for the London club on a £89m transfer fee in January from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Ukrainian winger, Mudryk slotted the ball past Fulham’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno In the 18th thanks to a lovely assist from Levi Colwill to give Chelsea the lead.
Armando Broja doubled Chelsea’s lead a minute later after poor defending by the Fulham’s players to give the Blues a 2 goal advantage in the first half.
Broja was making his first start in the Chelsea squad since sustaining a knee injury at the end of last year, replacing the suspended Nicolas Jackson.
Mudryk picked up an injury and was replaced by Ian Maatsen who came off the bench at halftime.
Broja later picked up and injury in the second half and was replaced by Raheem Sterling in the 65th minute.
“It’s important for us to build our confidence and trust in ourselves,” Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino told Sky Sports. The performance was very good, I’m so happy for the players and in the end we got what we deserved.”
“It’s a massive job, it’s step by step, very short steps. Sometimes people don’t have patience but for us it’s about having patience. Even when we weren’t winning, we kept calm and positive,” he added.
This was the Blues’ first Premier League victory and first goal scored since August 25 when they defeated promoted side Luton FC.
Chelsea move up to 11th in Premier League table standings after the win and will face Vincent Kompany’s struggling side Burnley on Sartuday who are yet to register their first win in this new English Premier league campaign.
Fulham remain 13th in the Premier League standings and will face Sheffield United at Home.
