Endrick Shines with Brace as Real Madrid Edge Past Celta Vigo 5-2 in Copa del Rey Thriller

Real Madrid secured a dramatic 5-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Thursday night, advancing to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals after extra time. Brazilian teenager Endrick was the star of the show, coming off the bench to score twice and help his side recover from a late equalizer to reach the next round.

Fresh off their disappointing 5-2 loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana, Carlo Ancelotti’s men responded with a strong start. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a dazzling solo effort, while Vinicius Junior doubled the lead just three minutes after the restart with a first-time finish.

However, Celta Vigo refused to lie down and responded in dramatic fashion. Jonathan Bamba pulled one back in the 83rd minute after a defensive mistake from Eduardo Camavinga allowed the visitors to pounce. To make matters worse for Madrid, Bamba was awarded a stoppage-time penalty, which Marcos Alonso calmly converted to send the game into extra time.

In the additional 30 minutes, it was Endrick who stole the spotlight, with a stunning brace to ensure Madrid’s progression. In the 108th minute, he fired a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner to give Madrid the lead once again. Federico Valverde then sealed the win with a thunderous strike from outside the box in the 112th minute. Endrick wrapped up the victory in style, scoring his second goal with a cheeky backheel inside the penalty area to make it 5-2.

Madrid will now look ahead to their La Liga clash with UD Las Palmas on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu, as they continue to chase Atlético Madrid at the top of the league standings. Meanwhile, they will await the draw for the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, where they could potentially face Barcelona.

The victory brings Real Madrid back to winning ways, with the team having won eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions. At the Bernabeu, they continue to build momentum, with a five-match winning streak in front of their home fans.
