Every time we get to visit him, he’s communicative. We have to wait patiently to see how his situation will develop.’
Van der Sar, 52 retired after 130 appearances for his country the Netherlands and a club career that made him one of the legends of Manchester United, having won the premier league four times and the champions league with both Ajax and Manchester United, with spells at Fulham and Juventus.
